Thoughtful, in-depth therapy to help you understand yourself, your relationships and the patterns that keep repeating.

I am Katia Castiglione, an experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist based in East Molesey, Surrey.

I offer a warm, confidential space where you can reflect on what is happening in your life, make sense of your experiences and find more helpful ways of relating to yourself and to others.

Drawing on many years’ experience with a wide range of relationship difficulties, I provide a safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore concerns together and find more constructive ways forward.

How I can support you?
I work with adults and couples, in person and online, in English and Italian.

  • Psychodynamic couples therapy

Relationships can be a great source of support, but they can also become a place of tension, distance or repeated conflict.

Psychodynamic couples therapy offers a confidential space for both partners to talk openly and be listened to carefully. Rather than deciding who is right or wrong, I pay attention to what is happening between you: how you communicate, how you respond when you feel hurt or unheard, and how past experiences may be shaping your life together now.

Working in this way can help you understand recurring patterns, manage disagreements more constructively, and reconnect with a sense of closeness and mutual respect.

  • Psychodynamic individual therapy

People seek individual therapy for many reasons. You might be dealing with a particular problem, feeling overwhelmed or stuck, or simply sensing that something in your life is not as you would like it to be.

Psychodynamic individual therapy provides a regular, confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings in depth, and begin to notice the links between past experiences and present difficulties.

My focus is not on giving quick advice, but on helping you develop a clearer and more compassionate understanding of yourself, so that you can make choices that feel more grounded and live in a way that feels more authentic and fulfilling.

Welcome

For many people, deciding to start therapy is a significant step. You may be going through a crisis, noticing the same arguments resurfacing, or simply feeling that life has become harder to manage than it used to be.

My work is psychodynamic, which means that together we pay attention not only to what is happening now, but also to how earlier experiences and relationships may be shaping your life today. By bringing these patterns into focus, it becomes possible to respond in new ways rather than feeling driven by old habits of thinking, feeling and relating.

I aim to offer a reliable, calm space in which you can talk openly, without feeling judged or pressured. Over time, the process can help you gain greater self-understanding, deepen your relationships and feel more grounded in yourself.

Individual & Couples Therapy Sessions

I offer confidential, compassionate therapy for both individuals and couples.

Whether you are struggling in your relationship, feeling anxious or low, or noticing unhelpful patterns that repeat in your life, sessions provide time and space to understand what is happening and what you might need.

Drawing on many years’ experience with a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties, I provide a safe, non-judgemental space where you can reflect, explore concerns together or on your own, and begin to find more constructive and satisfying ways forward.

Common reasons people come to therapy

Reasons you might seek therapy:

People come to see me for many different reasons. You may recognise yourself in some of the themes below:

  • Relationship problems, frequent arguments or a sense of disconnection from your partner

  • Jealousy, affairs, breaches of trust or worries about separation or divorce

  • Anxiety, low mood, loneliness or a general feeling of being overwhelmed

  • Difficulties with self-esteem, confidence or feeling “not good enough”

  • Changes in family life, parenting pressures, illness, ageing or other life transitions

You do not need to have a clear “label” for what you are experiencing. Therapy can be a place to think it through and decide together what you need.

What to expect / starting therapy

Beginning therapy can feel uncertain, so I aim to make the first steps as straightforward as possible.

  • Send an enquiry using the contact form.

You can briefly outline what brings you to therapy and whether you are interested in individual or couples sessions.

  • The initial consultation lasts approximately 50 minutes and can take place either in person or online.

This is typically followed by a further follow up consultation or an individual session with each partner to gather relevant history and background.

  • If we decide to continue, we agree a regular time to meet each week.

Therapy can be short-term and focused, or longer-term and more exploratory, depending on your needs.
